Poster project (2020): Estoy buscando a mi familia

IMG_5043.jpeg

"Estoy buscando a mi familia" was a poster project created by Atamhi Cawayu and Vicente Mollestad in 2020. In this project, numerous posters were hung in the streets of La Paz and El Alto. The initial aim of the project was to start a public search for possible relatives. After the first posters were put up, they quickly attracted the attention of journalists, which led to numerous interviews with Bolivian newspapers and television stations. In this way, Atamhi and Vicente wanted to open up a debate about transnational adoption.

Queer indigenous sexualities in Bolivia
(ongoing project)

In our visual imagination, queer indigenous representations are often underrepresented in Bolivian society. This project aims to challenge the heterosexual depictions of what is folkloric or indigenous and instead focus on the queer imaginations that emerge from these cultural expressions. By visualizing Bolivia's folkloric culture alongside queer indigenous identities, this project aims to create a space where queer representations can be seen and celebrated within these traditional contexts
