Descripción: Atamhi Cawayu/@displaced.alteno es un compañero que se define a sí mismo como "desplazado alteño", "indígena aymara" y "cuir". Ha vivido en Las Europas (Bélgica), "desplazado involuntariamente a través de la adopción internacional". Ha retornado a Bolivia, hace varios años, para encontrar las respuestas sobre su origen y la búsqueda de su familia boliviana. Problematiza el ser "aymara" y "cuir" como un proceso íntimo de retorno a su identidad étnica, un proceso que le permite entender su racialización, su autoidentificación indígena, más allá de los discursos esencialistas del ser aymara. Asimismo, reflexiona sobre las "fantasías coloniales y las jerarquías raciales" de la institucionalidad LGBTIQ+ de Las Europas que se centran en políticas imperialistas del norte global.

INEA Informs invites you to: “Families of Origin Searching for Social Justice in Intercountry Adoption”. This event discloses the necessary strategies and ethics to engage with the stories of biological families, which have largely been ignored by adoption policy and scholarship. In intercountry adoption, most of the time, we only get an insight into the lives of families in the countries of origin when adoptees are searching for them. This afternoon, INEA invites Dr. Atamhi Cawayu and Dr. Hari Prasad Sacré to turn the perspective inside out and unlock the stories of family members in the countries of origin searching for their adopted children for various reasons. Through academic research and storytelling, Cawayu and Sacré will share stories from Latin America and South Asia on how biological families have been searching for visibility, their children and social justice in intercountry adoption.
